Episode Summary

Whether it’s the travelers of yesteryear using the stars or compasses as a navigation guides, or today’s modern day version and use of GPS, we all at some point need a helping hand, get us where we want to go or get us back on track when we might have lost our way.

This was Neo’s story… He was blissfully unaware of his potential and needed his GPS in the form of Morpheus.

Today’s Podcast asks you, do you know your Morpheus? Are they doing what Morpheuses are designed to do… encourage, provoke, challenge, help and champion us to discover our potential as we live in and walk with victory in mind?

I’ll provide 5 key considerations with practical examples to help you along this journey.

Have a listen to today’s episode to see whether your GPS is functioning as they could. Whether you and I need to start paying more attention to them, or how to find them… that GPS needed to help us get where we were created to go.

Happy listening!

[00:00:43] Introduction to the show

[00:00:58] Going Hollywood, taking us back to the movie, The Matrix.

[00:01:49] Morpheus as Neo’s champion

[00:02:06] In today’s podcast, I will share lessons learned from Hollywood movie that really do actually apply to our quest in living in and walking with victory in mind. It is my hope that you too will discover, celebrate and or engage the Morpheuses present in your life.

[00:02:35] Number one. Morpheus often sees the potential in you before others. Sometimes even before yourself.

[00:03:13] Part of living with Victory in Mind is walking out who we know we were created to be, or finding hidden clues to our destiny or whether we are where we need to be in the first place. Then, there’s Neo’s category.

[00:03:56] Caution

[00:04:24] Keys to the Morpheus, that is in your life.

[00:04:49] Practical example – gardening

[00:05:51] What your Morpheus sees in you. Your positive impact.

[00:07:08] Number two. Morpheus seeks to create opportunities that encourage you to discover your potential, not stifle it.

[00:07:35] Practical example – parenting

[00:08:30] Your work is not in vain.

[00:09:33] Number three, Morpheus will challenge you, often uncomfortably so. Just so that they can help you on your journey in discovering the potential in you.

[00:10:20] Neo had barriers constructed in his mind that limited his viewpoint of who he actually could become. Practical example – that friend that keeps on bugging you.

[00:11:15] They’ll be all up in your business…

[00:12:47] Number four. Morpheus may sacrifice much or they may put their reputation on the line for you. That’s how much they believe in you.

[00:13:43] Practical example – So who’s that friend who got you a referral, a meeting with a potential client or employer.

[00:14:39] The power of unexpected packages.

[00:15:11] And number five. Morpheus celebrates when you celebrate and grieves, when you grieve.

[00:16:00] So too for us. Those who are our Morpheuses come alongside us, celebrating our wins, crying when we cry, laughing, when we laugh. Receiving joy when we are thriving in who we are and were created to be.

[00:16:56] My question to you today, who is your Morpheus?

[00:17:43] For those who find this is not the case, what to look for.

[00:19:50] Final consideration and thought provoking question for you.

In the movie, The Matrix, it takes you through Neo's journey and self discovery of who he really was based in large part on Morpheus's belief in what he saw in Neo, even before Neo saw it himself. Isn't it true how sometimes we go through life maybe not paying attention to, or discounting what others may see in us because we don't see it in ourselves at the first.

In Matrix, Morpheus created opportunities for Neo to discover his own potential based on his belief in who he thought Neo was. Morpheus already had a vision of what he saw in Neo but Neo had to play catch up.

Morpheus knows that unless you take that risk, you just don't know how far the capabilities of you can actually go. In The Matrix, when Neo and Morpheus were in the training program, Morpheus kept on provoking Neo to get himself out of his comfort zone to take a risk. The risk needed for Neo was because he needed to discover that there was more that he could do that he was actually aware of.

In Matrix, Morpheus sacrificed himself so Neo could get away. And yes, it's, Hollywoodized in all the action sequences and everything, and it was really nice. But the premise is true in terms of people believing in you and what you bring to the table. So much so that they will stake their reputation on it. Don't take that for granted. The person who sacrifice their own resources, whether it's money and time just for you, they were not obligated to, but they sacrificed of themselves for you, because they believe in your potential.

When someone invests in you, they might not be directly walking in your shoes. But they are a part of the journey as they have invested themselves in your success. Same with Morpheus and Neo. Morpheus felt like his life's work and vindication in who knew was came full circle as Neo came into the realization that he was, "The One." The battle had not yet even been won, but the victory was obtained when Neo came into the full realization of who he really was.

As our lives continue and we live out that which our Morpheuses have all along championed in and for us, whether it's in writing a book, getting a certification, becoming a parent, an astronaut an author, a chef, starting a business, a support group or whatever that thing is you know, you were created to be, and to do, we hopefully start to see and understand, Morpheuses are not in it for financial benefit, but for gratification of the soul. And that's priceless.
